'He calls it “Wild Horses” - “A symbol of freedom” - a new collection from Taiwanese-born luxury fashion designer Malan Breton, who has become known for his couture creations on the catwalk reminiscing on things that inspired him through his life including music, art and nature to create his next ready to wear 2021 collection. Designed for Paris Fashion Week but shot in the Korean section of Manhattan, Malan flew to New York City from his base in London to breathe in the energy and excitement that he feels when in New York. The Taiwanese-born luxury fashion designer, who has become known for his couture creations on the catwalk, showcased his ready to wear bold collection, reflecting on things that inspired him through his life including music, art and nature to create his special collection. We were delighted to join Malan on International Women’s Day which has been marked by recognizing women who have exemplified exceptional courage and leadership, advocating for human rights, women’s equality, and social progress, often at great personal risk to themselves and their families. Malan joins all of us to honor those that have endured violence, death threats, imprisonment, and police harassment because of their work. Some have fled their homes. Some have fled their countries. They deserve our support and recognition. And they remind us of something we must never forget - that it is often women who lead the charge for human rights, democracy, and justice, including in places where women hold much less than half of the political, economic, and social power. And it’s often women and girls who are the most vulnerable to human rights abuses. That’s why the equal rights and dignity of women and girls is a foreign policy priority for the United States. When the U.S. designs its foreign policy with the rights and needs of women and girls in mind, the policy is more effective, more humane, and more likely to make a lasting difference in people’s lives. And when we support women, we can help foster change on a much broader scale. Because it’s often women doing the hard work to make that change happen. This is why Malan Breton, as an Ambassador to the Parliamentary Society of the Arts, is working with the directors to help with initiatives to strengthen the industries of fashion, the arts, and entertainment, to educate, and to help the next generation with initiatives, and branding tools. One of the most important things to Malan is is giving back, which he was taught by his mentors, who gave him opportunities when others would not. Without those people, Melan would not be where he is today - which we are all better of because of!'
