'In collaboration with the HipHopHuis and guest curator Lee Stuart, the Kunsthal Rotterdam presents an exhibition about hip-hop and its influence on fashion and lifestyle. Hip-hop started in The Bronx, but is now a world-wide phenomenon. The charts are dominated by rappers, young people are willing to wait in line for hours for product launches, and hip-hop artists are gracing the front row at fashion shows. The exhibition Street Dreams. How Hiphop took over Fashion shows the looks, the codes and the creative energy of hip-hop. From the wild 1970s with photos of Jamal Shabazz and Janette Beckman, to pieces by artists such as Nick Cave, Thomas J. Price and Kehinde Wiley representing the hip-hop dream. Also, pioneers and key figures from the hip-hop fashion industry share their own personal stories about their role in hip-hop history and influence on the current fashion industry.'
