'At Paris Fashion Week Lebanese designer Elie Saab took inspiration from spring and blossoming gardens for his ready-to-wear collection for Spring/Summer 2014, unveiled in Paris on Monday (September 30). The colours were those of flowers, such as camellia white, eglantine rose, bougainvillaea and verdant green, fabrics were patterned with flower motifs and the needlepoint lace was used to imitate delicate foliage. \"It is about a garden, a lace garden. Because I took inspiration from an English landscape garden, in which there are lots of flowers. So that\'s our starting point for building the colour palette of our collection,\" Saab told Reuters Television. The woman as dressed by Saab this season is very feminine and sensual but in a subtle and chic way. \"The collection is very feminine and the inspiration is from, like a garden of lace and from here we chose the colours of the collection. There is a lot of lace but we tried to treat it like fabric and a lot of graphic bands all around the dress,\" he said. Though waists and shoulders were accented for an ever-feminine silhouette, tight skirts were rare on the catwalk, frequently replaced by looser ones in tulle and light fabrics, which Saab said should be in any woman\'s wardrobe this season. \"I feel women now like to wear clothes a little more fluttering, more loose than tight. For this we have this cut of big skirt. I feel this season the big skirt has its place in the cabinet of every woman,\" he said. The Lebanese designer is an established name when it comes to haute couture in the Middle East, dressing princesses in his glamorous, crystal-encrusted gowns at his Beirut atelier, which he opened in 1982 at the age of 18. He launched his ready-to-wear label in 1998, which possesses the same feminine aesthetic as his couture line. Saab famously dressed American actress Halle Berry in a peek-a-boo embroidered gown for the Academy Awards in 2002 when she won the award for Best Actress.'
