'Hello everyone and welcome to the Fashion &… Book Club where I discuss and recommend fashion books that are essential reading for any fashion aficionado! This week’s Fashion &… Book Club choice is \'Adorned in Dreams: Fashion and Modernity\' by Elizabeth Wilson. Originally published in 1985, and now available in a revised and updated edition, \'Adorned in Dreams\' by Elizabeth Wilson traces the social and cultural history of fashion and its complex relationship to modernity. The reason why I am recommending this book is because I have always been a believer of knowing your history and this publication is absolutely essential reading for any fashion student or scholar in order to understand the aesthetic and social importance of fashion from the beginning of the modern period c. 1850. Informative and well written, Wilson writes a very analytical and intelligent account of how clothes define us, make us anonymous or visible and create a boundary between the interior self and the exterior world.
