'Create your own Jane Austen-era inspired headband to flaunt while you walk! This simple video will give you the general outline, but don’t be afraid to add your own creativity and spirit – have fun with it! There is no way to mess up. If you don’t like what you see, add another feather because you can never have too many! What you will need: - 1 – 1 inch wide plastic or fabric headband - Fabric scissors - Ruler - 2-3 strips of stretch velvet or similar material cut into strips roughly 2 inches wide and 2 feet long (depending on size of headband and desired effect) - 1 hot glue gun - 2 mini clothespins or similar item to help when waiting for glue to dry - Strips of colorful ribbon - Additional decoration – we love feathers and pearls of all sizes and colors! Using the ruler and scissors, cut 2 or 3 long strips of your velvet or other base material to cover the headband. This may take trial and error, but remember you can always cut it shorter if you have too much at the end. 1½ to 2 inch wide by 2 feet long strips left plenty of extra fabric at the end for us. Once you have your stretch velvet or similar fabric cut, glue one end of a fabric strip to another with a bit of hot glue (you want both strips to be glued together at one end). Once dry, glue the end of the attached strips near the bottom of the headband – secure the spot with a mini clothespin. Begin to loosely twist the two pieces of fabric together, pulling at certain sections to make it looser. Once you’ve reached the end of the two strips, glue them together with the hot glue gun. Lay the fabric twist over the span of the headband, gluing every 1-2 inches to fasten the twist to the headband, pulling the strips for a looser, bigger twist.. At the other end of the headband, secure the spot with hot glue and a mini clothespin. Tip: you can also try this process with 3 fabric strips and create a braid to lay over the span of the headband! Horizontally wrap small strips of colorful ribbon to the two ends of the headband and secure in a similar fashion with hot glue – this will cover where your fabric begins and ends, creating a “cap” or nicer finish to the headband ends while adding some color and decoration! Now you can really show off your style! Wrap another color ribbon over the entirety of the headband, add feathers, glue on an array of pearls – whatever you like! Tip: add a dot of hot glue to the end of the feather and stick it into one of the twisted fabric to secure it in place and ensure it stands tall.'
