'The following is a review of the May 2nd edition of WWE Smackdown LIVE. How does did the show development their roster this week and build towards WWE Backlash 2017? It may have one or two dips in matches or segments, but overall it did not harm the enjoyment of the show. Majority of the matches were good, overall booking and storylines were kept fresh, and it did its job of keeping the viewers excited for upcoming shows, if not make you interested in tuning into next week. Jinder Mahal photo shoot with the WWE Championship. Shane McMahon shows up and takes the championship, telling Jinder he will fight Sami Zayn tonight. Chris Jericho shows up on Smackdown with the United States Championship. Chris Jericho, AJ Styles, and Kevin Owens open the show. (B-) Jinder Mahal defeats Sami Zayn with the help of the Singh brothers. (C+) Tye Dillinger defeats Aiden English. English throws a temper tantrum, acting like a Drama ... King. (C+) Charlotte is attacked backstage by the WELCOMING COMMITTEE aka Natalya, Tamina, Carmella, and James Ellsworth. Natalya and Carmella defeats Charlotte and Naomi. Naomi takes on Carmella and Natalya after first 2-on-1, until an beaten down Charlotte joins in. Afterwards, Becky Lynch walks out and teases heel turn, but turns on the WELCOMING COMMITTEE. Still, despite the set up, the WELCOMING COMMITTEE still beats up the heroes and stands tall. (B) Dolph Ziggler defeats Sin Cara in an average match. (C) Fashion Police Vignette. (C+) Kevin Owens defeats Chris Jericho and WINS his second United States Championship in a solid match! He attacks Y2J after the match, sticks his head in a chair and rams him into the turnbuckle. Since Y2J is going on tour, this could be his last match for a year.
