He has competed, coached and officiated at the highest level, winning multiple national championships, coaching and training several World Champions. As an event organizer, he has organized many State, National, Continental and World Championships. Michael Muleta is currently the National President of the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF), a position he has held for almost 20 years. He has also been heavily involved in the Arnold Sports Festival (Formerly Arnold Classic Festival) as both an event organizer and sponsor. Internationally, Michael is currently on the ITF Executive Committee, as the Under-Secretary (General Administration). He previously held the posts of Director of Scientific Research, Umpire Committee and Oceana Expansion Committee Director. Michael Muleta was awarded the Australian Sports Medal by the Prime Minister in 2000 for his contribution to Australian sport, was a 3 x Martial Arts Hall of Fame and Citizen of the Year nominee. Being devoted to sports from a very young age, Michael has competed at State (Handball), National (Korfball) or International (Taekwon-Do) level in 3 different sports, as well as playing Senior A-grade cricket and Senior Football.
