Michael still actively works as Personal Trainer, with select clients at the Global Fitness Institute HQ gym, and has run his own full-time martial arts centres, with up to 30 locations across Australia. He also has an extensive and successful background in fitness and sports spanning over 30 years, competing in State, National and/or World Championships in 3 different sports. In his main sport of Taekwon-Do, Michael has done almost all there is to do as a competitor, coach, instructor, umpire and administrator. With an 8th Degree Black Belt in Martial Arts, Michael is one of Australia’s highest profiled and respected Master instructors. He has competed, coached and officiated at the highest level, winning multiple national championships, coaching and training several World Champions. As an event organizer, he has organized many State, National, Continental and World Championships. Michael Muleta is currently the National President of the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF), a position he has held for almost 20 years. He has also been heavily involved in the Arnold Sports Festival (Formerly Arnold Classic Festival) as both an event organizer and sponsor. Internationally, Michael is currently on the ITF Executive Committee, as the Under-Secretary (General Administration). He previously held the posts of Director of Scientific Research, Umpire Committee and Oceana Expansion Committee Director. Michael Muleta was awarded the Australian Sports Medal by the Prime Minister in 2000 for his contribution to Australian sport, was a 3 x Martial Arts Hall of Fame and Citizen of the Year nominee. Being devoted to sports from a very young age, Michael has competed at State (Handball), National (Korfball) or International (Taekwon-Do) level in 3 different sports, as well as playing Senior A-grade cricket and Senior Football. Apart from his martial arts coaching success, he has coached school level Baseball (state champions), AFL, Volleyball and Cricket. With formal academic qualifications in Phys Ed, Science, Business, Management and obviously Education, Michael’s expertize make his seminars highly sought after and place huge demands on his time. With a particular interest in sports science, and drawing on his own vast personal sporting experiences, Michael has worked in many countries and is still constantly traveling and presenting training seminars and lectures Globally. Michael Muleta remains very hands on with course facilitation at GFI, leading most classes himself. He primarily oversees the Fitness, Massage and Business programs and oversees curriculum development. His limited spare time is spent with his kids, as a father of five, and he is a keen cook, gardener and World traveler.'
