'Production linked Incentives Scheme for food processing sector Why in News? Cabinet in its meeting approved the Central Sector Scheme – “Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI)”   Create Global Manufacturing Champions in Food Sector  To support Indian brands of food products in the international markets with an outlay of Rs.10900 crore.   SAMPADA scheme The following schemes will be implemented under PM Kisan SAMPADA Yojana : Mega Food Parks Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure Creation/ Expansion of Food Processing/ Preservation Capacities (Unit Scheme) Infrastructure for Agro-processing Clusters Creation of Backward and Forward Linkages Food Safety and Quality Assurance Infrastructure Human Resources and Institutions   OBJECTIVES 1. expansion of processing capacity and Branding abroad to incentivize emergence of strong Indian brands. 2. creation of global food manufacturing champions 3. Increase employment opportunities of off-farm jobs 4. Ensuring remunerative prices of farm produce and higher income to farmers  Salient features of the Scheme Budgetary Outlay- Rs. 10900 Crore Period of Implementation- 2021-22 to 2026-27 Has two Components    Implementation of the Scheme The Scheme would be monitored at Centre by the Empowered Group of Secretaries chaired by the Cabinet Secretary  Ministry of Food Processing Industries- Nodal ministry  The Ministry will prepare Annual Action Plan  A third party evaluation and mid-term review mechanism The scheme shall be implemented through a Project Management Agency (PMA).  The PMA would be responsible for  appraisal of applications/ proposals, verification of eligibility for support, scrutiny of claims eligible for disbursement of incentive.
